Escape Fire: A Documentary on The Fight To Rescue American Healthcare
Escape Fire is a documentary that tackles one of the most pressing issues of our time: how can we save our badly broken healthcare system? Aisle C production happily announced that after 2 years of production, the documentary would be premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival in late January. The film was granted the award for the festival’s US documentary competition.
Inspired by Donna Karan and her Urban Zen Foundation, Aisle C teamed up with directors/producers Susan Froemke, a four time Emmy Award winner, and Matthew Heineman to produce Escape Fire. The documentary delves into our country’s healthcare crisis, advocating a much needed shift from disease management to prevention. Additionally, it fights for a shift in focus from profits to the patients. The documentary follows dramatic, yet common stories of struggling patients as well as of healthcare leaders who are fighting to transform the skewed system at the highest levels of medicine, industry, government and even the U.S. military. Escape Fire was executive produced by Doug Scott, president of OgilvyEntertainment, who expressed that the feature documentary is akin to the spirit of pro bono work in commercials while also carrying new and hefty business implications. “It is a hybrid film with leading expert voices carrying the narrative, punctuated by emotionally powerful human stories,” reads the documentary description.
