James Cameron is launching an asteroid mining company
As if journeying down to the deepest depths of the ocean were not enough, visionary filmmaker of Titanic and Avatar, James Cameron, astonishes the world again with his latest business venture.
Yesterday, a new company called Planetary Resources officially launched promising new ventures in space exploration and cosmic resource harvesting. This venture also seeks to add “trillions” of dollars to the global GDP.
Financial backers and founders of this company include filmmaker/explorer James Cameron, Google co-founders Larry Page and Eric Schmidt, Ross Perot Jr. and Charles Simonyi, formerly from Microsoft.
The company sounds as though their goal is “astroid mining” but based upon their press release, it is not entirely clear.
Check out the official press release below that promises “a new space venture with a mission to help ensure humanity’s prosperity.”
