Born in Brooklyn, New York, Yauch taught himself to play bass in high school and formed a band for his 17th birthday party that would later become known as the Beastie Boys. After a near-three-year battle with cancer Adam passed away at age 47.

In addition to creating the historic Beastie Boys albums – Paul’s Boutique, Check Your Head, Ill Communication, Hello Nasty and more – Yauch was a founder of the Milarepa Fund, a non-profit dedicated to promoting activism about the injustices perpetrated on native Tibetans by Chinese occupational military forces.

A voice is arguably the most potent form of human expression. Adam’s spirit lives on within his music and activism. Adam we will keep listening, thank you for your contribution to our world.
