Partial Solar Eclipse Creates Ring of Fire

Yesterdays solar eclipse occurred due to the moon’s movement between the earth and the sun.  Many skywatchers in the Western U.S. and parts of Asia were lucky enough to view and capture images of this breathtaking phenomenon.  Check out some stunning images of these rare celestial motions.

In the partial eclipse the moons diameter appeared smaller than the sun’s and so its movements created a “ring of fire”, rather than a full solar eclipse in which the sun is completely blacked out by the moon.
