Director Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love) has just released the trailer for his upcoming film The Master. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Philip Seymour Hoffman in a 1950s-set drama centered around a charismatic intelluctual known as “the Master” (Hoffman) whose faith-based organization begins to gain a fervent following in America.
The story revolves around the Master’s right-hand man, a drifter (Phoenix), and how he begins to find himself questioning the belief system and his mentor. The plot also involves a religion called “The Cause” which many have compared to Scientology.
The film is set to be released on October 12th, 2012.
