Photo and Video of Usain Bolt’s Stunning 100m Triumph

Bolt 6

With another chance to shine on the world’s biggest stage, it’s safe to say that Jamaican superstar Usain Bolt is off to a good start, as lightning indeed struck twice last night. Bolt won his second gold medal in the 100 meters, breaking his own Olympic record and becoming only the second man since American great Carl Lewis to win gold back-to-back in the 100 meters. The electric crowd at the Olympic stadium saw Bolt win the fastest 100 meter race in history, and it wasn’t even that close.

Via the New York Times, the interactive video below compares Bolt’s run to every 100 meter race in history.

Unlike Beijing, there were many critics leading up to the race who doubted Bolt’s prospects of striking London gold. Fellow countryman Yohan Blake defeated Bolt in both the 100 and 200 at the Jamaican trials. And, going into yesterday’s final, Bolt said he was feeling about “95%”. Nevertheless, Bolt displayed that signature swag before the final, as if he knew with certainty that he was taking gold.

Below is another cool video that re-creates Bolt’s triumph using LEGOs.

Bolt is now considered the premier favorite in the 200 and the  4 x 100 relay, which features Blake and Bolt. Winning two more golds would  cement Bolt’s  legacy as one of the greatest Olympians ever.
