The undisputed champion of Discovery’s “Shark Week” is the Great White shark, and for good reason. Thanks to the $100,000 “Phantom” HD camera, one that movie studios now use, shark researchers shot footage of great white aerial attacks off the coast of South Africa. Now that footage can be seen this week Shark Week. The mind-blowing clip below is a snippet in comparison to what will debut this week, but it appropriately displays why humans have been intrigued by sharks, and specifically the ever popular white shark, for decades.
