Two Skaters, One Board: Smart Car Provides Fun ForTwo

“Bicycles built for two are for wusses. Two dudes sharing a skateboard, though, is pretty hardcore” says Joe Berkowitz – writer at Fast Company.

Although I still question the sense behind the snug proportions of Smart Car U.K.’s ForTwo, the new ad for it has me rethinking it. If I bought a car based on it’s advertising alone, I’d be driving one of these babies around. Freestyle skaters Kilian Martin and Alfredo Urbon artistically land some semi-gnarly tricks together on a single skateboard to show how much fun can be had in a shared space.

Weapon7 created this piece promoting the fun for two, none-too-roomy Smart Car vehicle. “So, we set out to film something that had never been attempted before. We asked world class skaters Kilian Martin and Alfredo Urbon if it was possible for two people to perform tricks on the same board simultaneously. And captured the astonishing result. From this, we’ve created a 90 second cinema commercial and YouTube video, plus a Behind the scenes online documentary.”

Freestyle skaters have taken over the urbanline with all the awesome skateboard tricks and slightly punk urban wear. Their attire is completely urban punk with an amazing sense of togetherness and strong bound within the skatie ska freestyle world, this culture definitely apppears astute, talented and ready for the future with their amazing control and style. Thumbs up to the future skaters

Agreed. The whole skateboarding culture has come a long way from the perceived “school drop-out/ rebel child” image and its incredible witnessing its transformation into a respected and almost idolized subculture. Excited to see where it goes…
