Worldcam: The Instagrammed Street View
Wondering what’s happening inside Twitter’s Headquarters today? or who performed at Staples Center last night? How about what the weather is like over in Brooklyn? Thanks to Per Stenius and Oskar Sundberg, the creators of Worldcam, you can access the pinpointed happenings of any location at any time.
Worldcam zeros in on just about ANY given location — your favorite restaurant, the inside of a company’s office, a sports venue, a famous landmark – to unlock on-site, live Instagram intelligence with pinpoint accuracy. The team strategically used Geonames.org for geographical search, Foursquare for the location search and Instagram for the photos themselves, providing users with the ability to check out the latest Instagrammed photos of any spot around the globe.
“We were just frustrated that there wasn’t any easy way to see all the latest Instagram photos taken at a specific location,” says Stenius. “And wouldn’t it be fun if you could see all the latest photos from the Taj Mahal, or Madison Square Garden, or a crazy club in Vegas and so on.”
Seeing that it will most likely be some time before Google Street View can snap shots of building’s interiors, this might be the coolest thing on the internet. and Instagram finally has a more meaningful purpose.
But check it out for yourself. Head over to http://worldc.am/. In the search bar, type in any city around the world and a point of interested within that city. Witness the magic of intersecting social platforms.
